Nicolina maintains a home-base in New York City's East Village and travels often, spreading her art around world. She specializes in guerrilla street art, vibrant murals, collaborative painting projects and interactive performance-art spectacles. Hearts of the World, her ongoing international art project, brings art to underprivileged children who might not otherwise have the opportunity to express themselves creatively. She is also the founder of the Free Art Society, an artist alliance dedicated to shifting the ownership of art out of walled institutions and into the everyday public realm.

The Mermaid Lagoon at House of Yes

I went to third annual Mermaid Lagoon ocean party at the House of Yes.It was magical, spectacular and so much fun!

Mermaid Lagoon was created three years ago by Kai Altair as a way for her to give back to the ocean after the release of her debut EP ‘Star of the Sea.’  Called a ‘modern day mermaid’ by CBS news, the ocean is one of Kai’s greatest inspirations, and she created the ‘Lagoon’ as a way to join with her music, circus, and performance artist community to create a vaudeville-type show within a glowing lagoon of beautiful mermaids.  Since the inception of Mermaid Lagoon, thousands of dollars have been raised and sent to the Waterkeeper Alliance in the Gulf of Mexico, and The Oceanic Preservation Society (known for their Oscar winning documentary ‘The Cove,’ about the mass slaughter of dolphins in Japan.)
